Sonnets

Deluge

Intruding here without a place
I found the souls alive within
And came not seeking affection's embrace
But in this space it were to begin
Through painful nights we clung close
Although bodies remained far away
Our minds did speak and found verbose
And in time our hearts would sway
There was no goal nor a set task
With which I began pursuit
But remain in your presence and there bask
Togetherness, for which, I became resolute
Romantics exalt, with prose and pen
All I cherish, my truest friend

Shoals

Embanked here on the shore of Sea's tumult
Resting on the barrier that separates defeat
Rotting hulls once challenged, and that dared to exult
Now broken as the promise of lover's lips to meet
The harbors, let none tell you, offer safety from the wave
The vessels there are moored, no less are they interred
Before they haul anchor and begin their chance to brave
Keels crack, masts tumble, the crafts voyage is deferred
Tragedy need not be the end
Though contrary belief brings it in heaps
Should that pair might apprehend
And cast off, that their final leap
Against fate, they might avail
On stormy waters a ship will sail

Shallow Wake

I never asked what I should be
nor considered it honestly
maybe I thought it'd come to me
given enough time
strayed away from creative work
my imagination to shirk
the artist type? he's just a jerk
no words from me, or rhyme
my mind they said was technical
well suited and best of all
gifted, like a festival
and to study was my climb
but now its almost said and done
and I have quit before I won
